BRGIE, Under Ekpa’s Leadership, Issues Warning About Nnamdi Kanu’s Health In Biafra Debate
The Biafra Republic Government In-Exile, under the leadership of Simon Ekpa, has issued a stern warning, threatening to close Nigerian government offices across Biafraland. This action is in response to alleged mistreatment of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who reportedly suffers from health issues including shortness of breath and low blood pressure……
According to Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s lawyer, the Department of State Services (DSS) has denied doctors access to Kanu despite his deteriorating health. Ekpa, acting as Prime Minister of BRGIE, denounced the Nigerian government’s handling of Kanu’s detention since June 2021, suggesting a hidden agenda.
In a statement released via his official X handle on Tuesday, Ekpa declared, “It is evident that the Nigerian state is not interested in keeping Mazi Nnamdi Kanu alive.” As a protest against these developments, the Biafra Government plans to shut down Nigerian government offices including secretariats, government houses, and local government institutions across
Earlier in May, Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court had denied Kanu’s request for bail. The recurring Monday sit-at-home protests in the South-East, despite IPOB’s statements of cancellation, continue to be a contentious issue, enforced in some regions by the Ekpa-led faction.
