PANIC As Armed Gunman Open Fire On 18- SEATER Bus On Expressway, See What They Did To Driver & Passengers
On Wednesday, a driver of the Akwa Ibom State Transport Company (AKTC) and 18 passengers were abducted by unknown gunmen along the Azumini area, a boundary town between Akwa Ibom and Abia states.
The Incident
The incident occurred as the AKTC bus was traveling from Uyo terminal, passing through Iwukem in Etim Ekpo council area. At the Azumini axis of the road, the driver and passengers were intercepted by their abductors.
According to a source, the gunmen stopped the vehicle after shooting into the air. They then ordered all the passengers to exit the bus, threatening to kill them if they did not comply. The driver was the first to come down, and the other passengers were instructed to follow immediately. The kidnappers then moved all of them into the nearby bush and escaped with them.
Nigerian Police Response
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, confirmed the incident and stated that the situation is currently under investigation. He said, ” Yes, that incident happened along Azumini axis of the road after Etim Ekpo local government area. All I can say is that the Police is still monitoring the situation now. ”
Ongoing Efforts Of Security Agency
The whereabouts of the abducted driver and passengers remain unknown at the moment. The Police are actively investigating the incident and working to ensure the safe return of the victims.
