In a shocking incident, Musa Majaga, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was shot by kidnappers at Yangoji in the Kwali area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, around 12: 23 am.
According to Naija News, five other residents were also abducted during the incident. Abdullahi, a resident of Yangoji who spoke to Daily Trust, described how the kidnappers broke into Majaga’ s house by destroying the burglary windows. They then entered the room and shot Majaga.
Abdullahi further revealed that the kidnappers also abducted Majaga’ s two children. ” After they had picked two of his children, they went into another apartment and abducted three other neighbors, ” he said.
A member of the local vigilante group, who also spoke to the publication, explained that the kidnappers exploited a shortage of cartridges in the vigilantes’ guns. This lack of ammunition left the community vulnerable.
The vigilante member stated, ” You know the kidnappers took advantage after they got information that vigilantes were short of cartridges. They then struck and abducted five people. We have not witnessed any attack by kidnappers in the past five months here in Yangoji. ”
Majaga, who was shot in the leg, has been taken to a private hospital in Gwagwalada for treatment. The incident has left the community in shock and fear, as such attacks had not been experienced in recent months.
At the time of this report, the FCT Police Command, represented by SP Adeh Josephine, had not yet released an official statement regarding the incident. The community is now anxiously awaiting further information and hoping for the safe return of the abducted individuals.
This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by residents in various parts of Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory. The community of Yangoji, which had enjoyed a period of relative peace, now finds itself on edge, grappling with the repercussions of this violent attack.
