A devastating incident has shaken the community of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, as a 32- year- old man, Amatari Christmas, took his own life after discovering his wife’ s infidelity. The tragic event occurred at Ikolo, in Yenagoa Local Government Area, where the deceased was found dead after consuming an insecticide, Sniper.
According to reports, Amatari had been suspecting his wife, Tombara, of cheating on him and decided to investigate further. He caught her in bed with another man, a suspected cultist and indigene of Ayama, at the lover’ s residence. The discovery led to a heated argument, and the wife’ s lover threatened to harm Amatari.
Overcome with grief and anger, Amatari returned home, locked out his two children, and consumed the deadly substance. His body was later found in an uncompleted building where he had gone to hide.
The incident has sparked outrage in the community, with kinsmen of the deceased threatening to invoke their ancestors to deal with the unfaithful woman and her lover. A kinsman, Francis, expressed the family’ s pain and anger, stating that Amatari’ s death was a result of his wife’ s betrayal.
