In a shocking turn of events, the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, is reeling from the aftermath of a fatal shootout involving actor and producer Prince Henry Ode, who was allegedly part of a notorious kidnapping gang. The incident, which occurred during a police operation in Lagos, has sparked widespread concern and introspection within the entertainment community.
Prince Henry Ode, known for his burgeoning career in acting and production, met his demise on Friday, July 5th, during a confrontation with the Lagos State Police. The operation, led by the command’ s Special Squad One Team, targeted criminal elements in areas including Ajao, Okota, Isolo, and Ladipo, resulting in a fatal exchange of gunfire. Reports indicate that five AK- 47 rifles and two SUVs were recovered at the scene, underscoring the severity of the criminal activities involved.
Reacting to the incident, prominent Nollywood filmmaker Stanley NwokeOntop took to social media to express his dismay and disappointment. In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Stanley lamented the tarnished reputation that individuals like Prince Henry Ode bring to the industry. He called for stricter vetting procedures within the Actors Guild of Nigeria, emphasizing the need for thorough background checks to prevent such incidents from recurring.
” Dear @princehenryodenigbo, why did you die so quick? We would have made you die slowly, we would have disgraced you very well before you died, ” Stanley wrote in his impassioned message. ” But all the same, I wish you death after death. You came to Nollywood with your cursed money and now you have given Nollywood a very bad name. ”
