Tragic Accident Claims 11 Lives with 10 Injured
A tragic motor accident in Kebbi State, Nigeria, has left 11 people dead and 10 others with various degrees of injuries. The accident occurred along the Koko-Yauri road at approximately 6 a.m. when the driver of a Volvo DAF truck, bearing registration number KWA 230 SKK, lost control of the vehicle.
The 40-year-old truck driver, identified as Alhaji Sule, was transporting passengers and bags of beans from Sokoto to Ibadan, Oyo State. The accident happened in Giron Masa village in Kebbi as the truck somersaulted.
The injured victims were quickly rushed to Shanga General Hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, a medical doctor confirmed that eleven people had lost their lives, while the remaining victims were receiving treatment.
The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the incident, with SP Nafiu Abubakar, the police spokesperson, releasing a statement about the accident. The statement revealed that the accident occurred on November 3, 2023, at about 6 a.m. and involved a Volvo DAF truck loaded with passengers and bags of beans.
The police team from Shanga Division promptly responded to the incident, evacuating the victims to the General Hospital in Shanga for treatment. The Commissioner of Police, Chris Aimionowane, used this tragic event as an opportunity to call on relevant transportation associations and road users to prioritize safety measures and exercise caution while on the road.
