In a shocking incident, Hajiya Halima Adamu, the 75- year- old mother of popular Hausa political singer Dauda Adamu, popularly known as ‘ Rarara’ , has been abducted in Katsina State.
According to a resident, Mrs. Adamu was abducted in the early hours of Friday at her residence in Kahutu village, Danja Local Government Area. The resident explained that the incident occurred around 1: 00 am, just a few minutes after a group of armed bandits, some of them carrying AK- 47 rifles, invaded the village.
The bandits, who were reportedly barefoot, went straight to the victim’ s residence and only took her, ignoring other people they encountered in the house.
” The bandits stormed the village barefoot and operated for a few minutes. Upon their arrival in the village, the bandits went straight to the residence of the victim and picked only her, ignoring other people they met in the house, ” he said.
Efforts to reach the singer, Dauda Adamu, for comment were unsuccessful, as several calls to him were not answered. However, the police authorities in the state have confirmed the incident in a statement.
The abduction of Rarara’ s mother has left the community in a state of shock and fear, as the issue of kidnapping and banditry continues to plague parts of northern Nigeria. The authorities have launched an investigation to rescue the elderly woman and apprehend the culprits.
Two Suspects Arrested
In a positive development, the Katsina State police have reported the arrest of two suspects in connection with the abduction of Hajiya Halima Adamu, the 75- year- old mother of popular Hausa singer Dauda Adamu, also known as ‘ Rarara’ .
According to the police spokesman, Abubakar Sadiq, the police received information on Friday at around 1: 30 am about the kidnapping of one Hauwa from her residence in Danja. Upon receiving the report, the Danja Divisional Police Officer (DPO) promptly led a team of operatives to the scene with the aim of apprehending the culprits and rescuing the victim.
During the investigation, two suspects were arrested for questioning. Sadiq stated that further developments will be communicated as the investigation proceeds.
