The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has issued a strong warning, expressing concern over the possible sacrifice of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, in order to protect corrupt politicians.
In a statement released on Saturday, IPOB condemned any attempt to imprison Kanu and called on Justice Binta Nyako of the Abuja Federal High Court to refrain from presiding over Kanu’ s trial, claiming that she had been compromised.
Emma Powerful, the group’ s spokesperson, conveyed IPOB’ s position, urging Western nations and prominent human rights organizations to intervene in what they perceive as a clear miscarriage of justice.
The statement appealed for entities like Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the Inter- Society organization to apply pressure on the Nigerian Government, President Bola Tinubu, and Justice Nyako to ensure the integrity of the judicial system by securing Kanu’ s release.
In a show of unwavering support for their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu, IPOB reiterated their demand for Justice Binta Nyako to disqualify herself from the case.
The group strongly asserted that Nyako’ s impartiality had been compromised, alleging that the Nigerian government had coerced her to use Kanu as a bargaining chip to secure the exoneration of her husband and son from charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
IPOB specifically called out Justice Binta Nyako of the Abuja Federal High Court, urging her to recuse herself from presiding over Kanu’ s trial. They claimed that her impartiality had been compromised, alleging that she may be under pressure from the Nigerian government to use Kanu as leverage for the exoneration of her husband and son from charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
To address this perceived miscarriage of justice, IPOB called upon prominent international organizations such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the Inter- Society organization to intervene and put pressure on the Nigerian government, President Bola Tinubu, and Justice Nyako.
