TRUTH IS OUT! Kenneth Okonkwo Speaks On Plans To Join APC
Nollywood actor and cum politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has denied plans
to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The politician, who recently spoke about dumping the Labour Party (LP) led by Julius Abure, said on Friday that reports claiming he has plans to return to the ruling APC are fake news.
During a recent interaction with an online-based news platform, Okonkwo, who served as the spokesperson for the presidential campaign of the LP during the 2023 elections, described the LP as “a clandestine organization governed by a bunch of clowns.”
He expressed his displeasure with the recent happenings within the Labour Party.
Okonkwo claimed that the LP lacked integrity to exploit the internal wranglings rocking other political parties.
He added that he cannot rule out decamping to another political party if the Labour Party (LP) continues on a “trajectory where they cannot even hold an acceptable national convention.”
Following the interview, certain reports emerged that the LP chieftain is set to join the APC. However, the veteran actor has quickly moved to shut down the rumours.
Taking to his X account, he wrote:
“Return to APC? FAKE NEWS.”
Okonkwo described those behind reports of him returning to APC as mischief makers and provided the link
to the full interview.
In the interview, Okonkwo said he will not rule out rejoining another party if the LP continues on a “trajectory where they cannot even hold an acceptable national convention.
“Any party that is not visibly
committed to the welfare of Nigerians will most likely not see me there. I don’t rule out going back to anything because change is constant.
“My own labour party is not impressing me. Assuming they continue on this trajectory where they cannot even hold an acceptable national convention, then you’d tell me I’d be there?
“I was a spokesperson at the presidential level and I did not know that the Labour Party was having a convention. When I saw it on social media, I thought it was fake. They were rejected in Umuahia because it was a leprous convention. “Those people are clowns. It is the greatest joke I have ever seen in a political party and then you want to position yourself as a party of integrity. You cannot give what you don’t have.
“Aburi and his cohorts, their tenure is over. Let Aburi and his cohorts get of behind me. They are workers iniquity. I don’t rate them. That executive is in charge of the secret society. They should be apprehended.”
