In a terrible turn of events, the Zimbabwe Republic Police apprehended a serial killer and rapist in the Chipinge district. Daniel Chauke, 62, has been arrested for a series of murder, rape, and stock theft offenses that occurred in Chipinge and Chimanimani between April 2022 and May 2024.
The arrest occurred on May 27, 2024, when Chauke was initially held for stock theft. The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirm the arrest of Daniel Chauke (62) in connection with a series of murder and rape incidents, as well as a case of stock theft, that occurred in Chipinge and Chimanimani between April 2022 and May 26th, 2024.
On May 27, 2024, the suspect was apprehended for stock theft and taken to ZRP Chipinge. Detectives searched the suspect, recovering various females garments, a cellphone, and a machete that had been stashed in a sack and bag. The discovered articles matched the description of the things. stolen from a wooded location along Usanga- Bangazani Road in Chipinge on May 26, 2024, where Cylia Maponese (45) was slain. The suspect was interviewed and admitting to raping the girl before murdering her and stealing a cellphone, various women’ clothes, and US$10.00 cash.
The suspect is linked to two murder cases: one in which a lady (54) was raped and died on October 21, 2023, at Chikwanda Village, Usanga location, Chipinge, and another in which a woman (32) was raped and killed on April 24, 2024, at Matakanyi Village, Chimanimani.
The suspect is also clearing seven rape cases in Chipinge that occurred between April 3, 2022 and April 5, 2024. The suspect who is has confessed and accepted the crime will not be allowed to go scot free but will be made to face the full wrath of the law for the crime committed.
