Reverend Sister Meets Waterloo After Commiting An Horrible Crime [Read Details Here]
On May 30, 2024, a Catholic Reverend Sister was arrested in connection with the abduction and alleged trafficking of two children in Anambra State.
This arrest came after the successful rescue of two out of three children from the same family, who had been kidnapped by a motorcyclist in Amaba Ime, located in the Ikwuano Council Area of Abia State.

They have since been reunited with their parents, as disclosed by the Chairman of Ikwuano Local Government Area, Mr. Osinachi Nwaka, during a meeting with members of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Abia State chapter.
The meeting was led by Promise Uzoma Okoro.
Mr. Nwaka revealed that a Reverend Sister, implicated as a member of a child trafficking syndicate, had been detained by the police.
He identified her role as the ” middleman” within the trafficking ring.
Mr. Nwaka explained that the kidnapping incident had caused him significant concern, leading him to organize several meetings with different security agencies.
He assured the public that efforts were ongoing to locate the third missing child and praised the collaborative efforts of Governor Alex Otti, the Abia State Commissioner of Police, and other security heads in the state.
He also called for public cooperation and vigilance to help dismantle the child trafficking syndicates operating in the region.
Mr. Nwaka expressed his dismay at the existence of these syndicates in every local government area, highlighting a particular case where a man had paid N1. 8 million to buy one of the boys.
He further elaborated on the role of the arrested Reverend Sister, who facilitated the distribution of the trafficked children and collected her share of the proceeds. Mr. Nwaka noted that she remained in custody at the State CID.
In his address, Mr. Nwaka urged parents to be more vigilant regarding their children’s whereabouts and advised schools against expelling students for non-payment of tuition fees, as this could expose them to greater risks.
Additionally, earlier reports by SaharaReporters on May 14 indicated that the Anambra State Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court in Awka had remanded two other Reverend Sisters from the Catholic Congregation of St. Francis of Compassion in Imo State.
The sisters, identified as Angela Onyenachi Ibe, 42, and the Mother- General, Sister Chiemelie Jacinta Yvonne, 41, were charged with conspiracy, obtaining by false pretenses, illegal dealings in children, and fraudulent adoption. These charges were based on the Criminal Code, Revised Laws of Anambra State 1991, and the Child’s Rights Law of Anambra State, 2004.
According to a statement by the
media aide to the Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Miss Chidinma Ikeanyionwu, the prosecuting police officer alleged that the defendants had fraudulently collected suns of money totaling N4 million, N1 million, and N500, 000 from unsuspecting victims. These payments were made to the Zenith Bank account of Sam Damian Community Children’s and Old People’
s Home in Obosi, Idemili LGA, under the pretense of facilitating adoptions. However, when the charges were read to the defendants, they each pleaded not guilty to the offenses.
