The reinstated Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi has quelled the speculations that the tension in Kano State is fueled by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu- led federal government and his security chiefs.
Recall that some political gladiators had accused the federal government and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, of stopping the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Bayero from vacating the throne.
Also, the Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo accused the former governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of deploying the Federal mite to impose the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero on people of the state
However, speaking on Saturday following the tension in the state, Sanusi said Tinubu, as well as his security chiefs, have not, in any way, shape or form, interfered in the power tussle currently going on in Kano.
Reacting to this, Reno Omokri, a chieftain of the PDP said: ” It is good that Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II has come out himself to say that the Federal Government and President Bola Tinubu, as well as his security chiefs, have not, In any way, shape or form, interfered in the power tussle currently going on in Kano. That is commendable and should put to shame those who have made false allegations against the National Security Adviser.
” But there are other issues. The Federal Government ought not to get involved in the back and forth of who is actually the Emir of Kano. The Kano State Government and the judiciary are well situated to resolve that controversy.
” However, if there is a breakdown in law and order and a threat to the security of Nigeria, then the President and his National Security Adviser should both not be hesitant in intervening for the limited purpose of maintaining law and order.
” The intention of those who have made these false allegations is to put the Federal Government on the defensive and blackmail the President and National Security Adviser, as well as deprive them of their gumption.
” There is only one Commander- in- Chief and any threat to the peace, prosperity and security of Nigeria deserves his attention.
” The Federal Government has the right, authority, ability and responsibility to act in the national interest and should be unperturbed by anybody maligning them by their zero- sum game of brinksmanship. “
