70-Year-Old Man Beg For Mercy While Being Beaten To Death, SEE What He Did
A 70-year-old butcher named Yekeen Alaja was reportedly beaten to death in Ibadan, Oyo State’ s capital, on Thursday. PUNCH Metro’s investigations found that Alaja was beaten to death by a colleague butcher named Mutiu Balogun, 47, also known as Mutiu Iroko.
According to eyewitnesses, the tragedy occurred after an argument at the Moniya Abattoir in the state’s Akinyele Local Government Area, and caused the entire town to mourn. One of the witnesses, who spoke to PUNCH Metro on the condition of anonymity, said the event happened in the afternoon within the butchers’ market.
The deceased’ s family member, Musiliu Alaja, told PUNCH Metro, ” There was a misunderstanding between the suspect and the victim’s younger brother, one Yisau Alaja. So, the suspect went to the market to file a complaint with the deceased as the head of the family, but instead of calmly stating his viewpoint, he began pouring curses and harsh language. This later sparked a dispute.
The deceased warned him at this moment, but instead of remaining calm, he retaliated by striking the deceased till he collapsed. He was immediately taken to a neighboring hospital, where he was pronounced dead and the body was lodged in the morgue, “he stated. Another eyewitness, who did not want her name published, told our correspondent, “The issue would not have caused a stir if they had listened to other dealers who were attempting to fix the situation. It has now claimed one life. May God rest his soul.
Mutiu Iroko was claimed to have been apprehended by a squad of Amotekun operatives and officers from the Moniya Divisional officers Headquarters for questioning. As of press time, all attempts to contact the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, were unsuccessful since his phone number was not available.
