14-year-old British-Nigerian, Daniel Anjorin, killed in London sword attack for burial today
The 14-year-old Nigerian boy, Daniel Anjorin, who was killed in a sword attack that happened on April 30, is slated to be buried today (Friday) in East London.
Vanguard reported that Daniel Anjorin was attacked by a samurai sword-wielding man, while walking down Laing Close in Hainault on his way to school at around 7am on April 30.
Anjorin suffered a slash to his neck and a stab wound to his chest, during the sword attack that got four people injured, including two Metropolitan Police officers.
Family and friends have gathered already for his funeral service at Jubilee Church London at 11am on Friday, May 17.
Following the service, he will be buried in an East London cemetery, according to BBC.
More than 300 people attended a vigil for Anjorin on Sunday, May 5, where his friend Harris appreciated everyone for their support and paid tribute to him.
Following Anjorin’s death, a 36-year-old man, Marcus Arduini Monzo from Newham was charged with the murder of Anjorin.
Monzo was also charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary, and possession of a bladed article, the police announced on Wednesday.
Daniel Anjorin was a pupil at Bancroft’s private school in Woodford Green, which is also the same school attended by Nottingham knife-attack victim Grace O’Malley-Kumar.
A message from “Mr and Mrs Anjorin and family” posted on the page thanked the community for its emotional and financial support.
Arsenal FC also paid tribute to Daniel Anjorin during their home game against Bournemouth on Saturday, May 4.
Reacting to his tragic demise, Anjorin family said, “In the wake of our son Daniel’s tragic death we wish to thank you for your support which has been a source of comfort and strength to our family”, they said.
“We deeply appreciate your generous donation.”
“Due to the trauma of Daniel’s death particularly on his siblings we have decided to use the donation provided towards establishing a new family home.”
