TRIBUTE TO CHIEF MRS ESTHER AYINKE ODE, IYE META AS WE ALWAYS CALLED YOU
Today marked a year that you departed from us, In a heartfelt tribute, the son of Chief Mrs. Esther Ayinke Ode, affectionately known as Iye Meta, paints a touching portrait of his beloved mother. Titled “Tribute to My Dear Mother,” which described exactly who ma is;
“Tribute to My Dear Mother, My mother was the embodiment of humility and selflessness. No one who lived with her went to bed hungry. She never bothered me for material things; instead, she would often reminded me about a neighbor or acquaintance in need. I knew her to regularly go out of her way to make sure everyone around her was happy. This was confirmed when she was bestowed with the honorary title of “Majekobaje” at the St. Patrick’s Church in ljebu Owo, a befitting recognition given her interactions with everyone that crossed her path. The last few days that I spent with my mother before taking her to the hospital for surgery are fixed in my mind and heart. When I asked her how she felt about going for surgery, especially considering her age and health, she told me that at least God had already answered her most important prayer – that she would never lose any of the children my father left in her care. And sure enough, her prayers for every one of my father’s children and their children, regularly mentioning each by name one after the other, travelled beyond where Mama was ever able to go to meet us wherever we found ourselves in this world. My mother was my friend, comforter and my first teacher. Over the years, she continued to support me in both prayers and resources in fact, my mother’s sacrifices have been one of the greatest driving forces propelling me through my journey of life. She was a mother in every sense. Through good times and bad times, she stood as the rock of Gibraltar”. Rest in peace, We love and Miss
