As The Oldest Man On Earth John Tinniswood, a resident of Merseyside, has achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the oldest living man on the planet. At 111 years and 223 days old, Tinniswood attributes his longevity to simple pleasures, such as indulging in fish and chips on Fridays, and maintaining an active lifestyle, including regular hikes during his youth. Currently residing in a care home in Southport, Tinniswood imparts words of wisdom, advocating for ” exercising the mind” and embracing moderation in all aspects of life.
Born on August 26, 1912, in Liverpool, Tinniswood has vivid memories of his youth, including cheering for his beloved Liverpool FC and Everton players like Billy Liddell and Dixie Dean from the terraces. During World War Two, he crossed paths with his future wife, Blodwen, whom he married in 1942. Their enduring love lasted for 44 years until Blodwen’ s passing in 1986. Their daughter, Susan, was born in 1943.
Tinniswood’ s professional journey led him through various roles, including positions at Royal Mail, Shell, and BP, where he worked until his retirement in 1972. Reflecting on his earliest recollections, Tinniswood reminisces about his first day at Lawrence Road School and later attending The Holt Secondary School, now known as Childwall Comprehensive School.
Despite his impressive age, Tinniswood maintains a modest approach to his lifestyle, enjoying his favorite meal of fish and chips every Friday without adhering to any strict dietary regimen.
