In Ogun State, a series of tragic auto accidents unfolded on Monday, leaving six individuals dead and twenty others with varying degrees of injuries.
The incidents, occurring at different locations across the state, cast a somber shadow over road safety concerns in the region.
As detailed in a statement by Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the accidents resulted in a total of twenty-six individuals emerging unscathed, while
others grappled with the aftermath of
the harrowing collisions.
The first of the accidents occurred in the early hours of the morning at Fidiwo on the bustling Lagos- Ibadan Expressway, claiming the lives of two individuals and inflicting injuries upon two others.
The collision involved a Toyota Bus and a Golf car, with preliminary investigations pointing to factors such as reckless overtaking, excessive speeding, and a loss of control as contributing elements..
Shortly thereafter, tragedy struck once
more on the ljebu-Ode-Ore-Benin Expressway, following a fatal crash after Ajede junction involving a Toyota. bus.
The collision resulted in seventeen individuals sustaining injuries, while three tragically lost their lives. Investigations indicated that speed and driver fatigue may have played.
pivotal roles in the devastating outcome of the accident. The third incident, occurring just after the Ajebamidele bridge on the Ijebu- Ode- Ore- Benin Expressway, involved a luxury bus colliding with an improperly parked IVECO truck. Out of twenty-nine passengers on board, two suffered injuries, and one lost their life, while the remaining twenty-six emerged from the wreckage unharmed.
