A man, identified as Marcel Udeh, from Umunneochi LGA of Abia State, was arrested and is now being detained by the police, for allegedly. murdering his own son.
The crime his son committed, according to a source in the community, was that he came back home and had eaten the last portion of food which was kept in a pot in the family’s kitchen.
According to reports gathered regarding the incident, Mr Udeh flew into a rage after learning that his late son entered the kitchen and took food without getting permission from his father.
In anger, he was said to have run into his room, brought out his gun and opened fire on his son, leading to the victim’s demise.
The father was promptly caught by members of the area, who tied his two hands up, bound his legs as well, and placed him on the lifeless corpse of his child.
According to another story of the incident, the enraged father had used a sharp object on his son, leading to his death. The suspect, who was heard pleading for mercy, accused the devil of being behind his horrible act, saying that he regretted what he did. When he was called, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Abia State police force, ASP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed that a case was filed regarding the incident at the Umunneochi Police Division.
The PPRO also added that the suspect has been arrested. “Yes, we received a report at Umunneochi Division, the suspect has been apprehended.”
“And the matter has now been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation. The suspect would be charged to court afterwards”, said the PPRO In photos from the aftermath of the shocking incident, which are now trending online, the suspect was seen, with his hands tied behind his back, lying on his son’s corpse. Also, a video of the scene showed him being interrogated by the residents of the area, who stood around him and the dead body.
