EASTER CELEBRATION Turns Sorrowful As Deadly Bandits Rob Passengers, Strip Them Naked Before Setting Their Vehicle Ablaze [VIDEO]
A horrifying incident unfolded on the Ijebu Ode- Ore- Benin City expressway in Ogun State, as an armed gang targeted and set ablaze a 59- seater luxury bus belonging to Ifesinachi Transport Ltd. The attack took place on Saturday, leaving passengers traumatized and robbed of their belongings.
Social media influencer Chude Nnamdi shared a video on X (formerly Twitter), capturing some of the affected passengers recounting the harrowing experience. According to their testimonies, the armed robbers intercepted the bus and proceeded to rob the passengers, stripping some half- naked. The criminals then locked the passengers inside the bus before setting it ablaze.
Many of the passengers were en route to the southeast region to celebrate the Easter festivities. Thankfully, there were no reported casualties, but the passengers faced a terrifying struggle to escape the burning vehicle.
One passenger described the incident, stating, ” We were traveling with Ifesinachi Motors at night to return to the East for Easter celebrations when criminals attacked us in Ijebu Ode along the Ore/Benin expressway. They robbed us of everything we had, some were even stripped half- naked. They locked us inside the 59- seater luxury bus and set it ablaze. We thank God that we eventually escaped; nobody died, but everything we had was taken from us. ”
Another passenger corroborated the account, revealing the severity of the situation.” This is Ifesinachi Motors that we were traveling with on Friday night, and this attack happened around 2 am. They stripped us half- naked. The people in the vehicle are completely stranded. Some passengers were macheted, and others sustained broken legs. We had small children among us. After robbing us, they burnt the vehicle,” they recounted.
Efforts to reach the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Odutola Omolola, proved unsuccessful as calls to her mobile phone went unanswered, and a text message seeking a response went unacknowledged.
The incident highlights the vulnerability of road travelers to criminal activities and the urgent need for enhanced security measures along major highways. Commuters should be able to travel without fear of falling victim to such violent attacks.
It is crucial for law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice promptly. Additionally, authorities should prioritize the protection of citizens by implementing proactive measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
The safety and security of travelers should always be a top priority, and collective efforts are essential to address the underlying issues contributing to criminal activities on Nigeria’ s roads. By working together, society can strive towards ensuring safer journeys for all and restoring confidence in road transportation.
