Faced with the heart- wrenching reality of her husband’ s untimely demise, Hauwa Ali has made a solemn vow regarding the future of her children within the Nigerian military.
In a poignant declaration, Ali firmly stated that her children would never follow in their father’ s footsteps and join the ranks of the Nigerian military. This decision stems from the profound grief and anguish she feels over the loss of her husband, who met his tragic end during a peacekeeping mission in Okuama community of Ughelli South local government area of Delta state.
Expressing her devastation and disbelief over the unexpected turn of events, Ali emphasized that she never imagined her husband’ s noble mission would culminate in such a heartbreaking outcome.
Speaking with Daily Trust, Ali reiterated her resolve to shield her children from the dangers and uncertainties inherent in military service, firmly asserting that her late husband had already made the ultimate sacrifice for his nation.

It was reported that unidentified assailants set up an ambush for soldiers in the Okuoma community, resulting in the deaths of multiple soldiers. The military high command officially acknowledged this incident on Saturday, March 16.
Tukur Gusau, the director of defence information, stated that on Thursday, March 14, 2024, troops were surrounded by armed youths from the community in Bomadi LGA of Delta state, resulting in their deaths.
The military has pledged to maintain a presence in the creek until they retrieve all the stolen weapons taken by the assailants and apprehend the suspects. However, some prominent Nigerians have advocated for an impartial investigation into the incident.
Reflecting on her late husband’ s distinguished character and dedicated service, Ali, Hauwa, the Commanding Officer of the 181 Amphibious Battalion, expressed:
“Words cannot describe him because he was everything to us. His dedication to humanity is one thing I will always remember. No matter how he was, once he was called to work, he would make sure he fulfilled it. ”
Expanding on whether she would permit some of her children to pursue a military career in the future, she remarked: “I will not advise any of his children to be in the military. Their father has already sacrificed his life for the country.
