SHOCKING! MANY Houses May Collapse As Bricklayers Resort To New Strategy Of Moulding Blocks After Cement Hit N15, 000
The significant increase in the price of a 50kg bag of cement to approximately N13, 000 in various retail outlets across the Federal Capital Territory and Enugu highlights the profound impact of inflation that has gripped Nigeria. A thorough investigation conducted by Sunday PUNCH reveals a stark escalation from the initial factory pr of N8, 500 per bag, with resellers BET inflating the rates due to mountin TAKE inflationary pressures. The assessment conducted on Thursday along Airport Road depicted a consistent upward trajectory in prices since December 2023, starting at around N5, 000 and gradually climbing to N9, 000, signaling a concerning trend with no signs of abating.
Subsequent market surveys carried out
on Friday and Saturday in Karu, Jahi, and Lugbe areas of Abuja unveiled a wide price range for a 50kg bag of cement, fluctuating between N10, 000 to N13, 000. In Lugbe, retailers confirmed the prices of Dangote Cement and BUA Cement at N10, 000 and N13,000, respectively, shedding light on the varying costs across different brands. Victor Adewuyi, a retailer, provided insights into the pricing dynamics, highlighting fluctuating rates between N10, 000 and N13, 000 at Timber Market in Lugbe, depending on customer
negotiation skills. Meanwhile, in Jahi, the
price stabilized at N11, 000, depicting
localized variations in pricing strategies.
However, bricklayers in Nigeria have come up with risky methods to reduce costs when constructing buildings, following a sharp increase in the price of a 50-kilogram bag of cement in the country. A recent market survey in Abuja revealed that a 50kg bag of Dangote cement is now selling at N10, 000, while
BUA cement is priced at N15,000.
Videos circulating online depict how bricklayers are now focusing more on quantity rather than quality, with some drastically reducing the size of the blocks they are molding in order to save money. This approach has been criticized by many, who fear that it poses a danger to the structural integrity of buildings and could result in collapses.
The situation is further exacerbated by Nigeria’s annual inflation rate, which rose to 26. 72 per cent in September from 25. 80 per cent in the previous month, according to the National Bureau
of Statistics. This increase has sparked public outcry against President Bola Tinubu’s government, with Pastor David Ibiyeomie’s name trending in connection to the escalating costs of staple foods, transportation, school fees, and house rent due to the challenging economic conditions.

Prepare for buildings collapse in the
coming days.
Many construction projects will end up in ruins. This is Nigeria! Additionally, a video of Pastor Ibiyeomie warning against voting along party lines before the 2023 presidential elections has resurfaced, in which he predicted severe hardship if the wrong choice was made. In the video, the cleric also indirectly criticized the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its presidential candidate, using a Bible verse to reference’ childish leaders.
