In a recent breakthrough, the Nigeria Police Force High Command disclosed the apprehension of a former member of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Implicated in the clandestine supply of military camouflage and equipment to criminal elements operating in Zamfara State.
Identified as Ahmed Mohammed, the individual in question, who had been stationed at the Air Force Base in Kaduna State, was discharged from the NAF following a five-year tenure and subsequent court- martial proceedings for undisclosed misconduct.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police and spokesperson for the Nigerian police, Muyiwa Adejobi, investigations revealed that the dismissed officer had initiated the illicit trade in military gear, linking up with Mushiri Abubakar, who acted as a conduit for supplying various criminal factions

The duo’ s activities came to light as they were intercepted en route from Kaduna to Zamfara, transporting a cache of military paraphernalia intended for distribution among bandit groups. Among the seized items were 10 sets of military camouflage uniforms, 10 pleces of camel packs, along with military hats, cardigans, T- shirts, belts, and anklets.
Adejobi emphasized that Abubakar, a
childhood acquaintance of an Air Force
personnel stationed in Kaduna, played a pivotal role in facilitating the illegal trade, which had previously furnished notorious criminal figures like Bello Turji with military-grade equipment. Addressing the press during the suspects’ parade at the Special Tactical Squad-Intelligence Response Team headquarters in Abuja, Adejobi reiterated the resolve of law enforcement agencies to dismantle criminal networks, particularly those involved in arms trafficking. He underscored the critical role played by disrupting the supply chain of weapons, highlighting its potential to cripple the operational capabilities of bandits.
The police spokesperson stressed the imperative of severing the link between criminals and their access to sophisticated weaponry, emphasizing that without such resources, their ability to perpetrate acts of violence against Innocent civilians would be significantly undermined.
