Four people have been apprehended and taken into custody by the Nigeria
Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) of the Benue State Command in connection with allegations of child rape, armed robbery, and damage to government properties (vandalism).

Officer (PPRO) for the command, introduced and paraded the suspects to news reporters on Monday, 12th February 2024 in Makurdi, the capital city of Benue state saying that a 25-year-old man was caught and apprehended on charges of raping a young girl, 11 years old, adding that the culprit was caught red-handed in the act on 25th January, 2024 at at Mbakumbur Peivi, in the Guma Local Government Area of the state.
Sadly, the NSCDC spokesperson claimed that a medical check of the victim showed a tear in her genitalia and blood on her private area while assuring that the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) would be in charge of the case as well as suspect’ s prosecution..
On the other hand, Ejelikwu also made mentioned that, a 27-year-old suspect was also taken into custody on charges of stealing, armed robbery, cheating, and criminal conspiracy, recalling that on 5th February 2024 near Ankpa Quarters, the suspect, a member of a renowned armed robbery gang that are known for terrorizing people of Makurdi and its surroundings ran out of luck and ended behind bars.
Meanwhile, at Ugbokpo, Apa Local Government Area LGA of Benue, the other two suspects who are native of Nasarawa State were taken into custody on February 4. The men claimed to be heading to Kaduna when they were stopped while operating a stolen MF375 tractor, but they were unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the tractor which resulted in their detention.
As confirmed by the NSCDC PRO, the incidents are still being thoroughly investigated, and the suspects will face appropriate charges as soon as necessary findings are completed after which he urged the general public to always report any suspicious activities. going on around them to the appropriate authorities as this is would go a long way in dealing with criminal elements
and curbing the state of their nefarious
activities.
