In a significant move to tackle crude oil theft and criminal activities in Delta State, Brigadier- General Salisu Aliyu, Commander of the 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, has expressed a firm commitment to eliminating these issues. The declaration was made during the inauguration of projects completed by Lieutenant- Colonel AN Abubakar, Commanding Officer of the 181 Amphibious Battalion in Ika North- East Local Government Area.
Aliyu emphasized the necessity for troops to sustain their efforts against crude oil theft, acknowledging the Brigade’ s contributions to combating such criminal vices. He highlighted the importance of these endeavors for national security and the economic prosperity of the nation. The Commander commended the achievements of the Brigade and urged troops to remain dedicated to eradicating crude oil thieves and other criminals, ensuring the security of the home front.
In appreciation of the laudable projects executed by Lieutenant- Colonel Abubakar, Aliyu expressed optimism that these initiatives would set the stage for the development of the barracks. He urged officers to take ownership of the projects and instill a positive maintenance culture, ensuring their longevity for future generations.
Lieutenant- Colonel Abubakar, in his remarks, highlighted the significance of the completed projects in providing an enabling environment for officers, soldiers, and their families. These projects include facilities like the Warrant Officers and Sergeants Mess, a five- bedroom accommodation for guests, NAPEX, a restaurant, signposts along the highway, Guard Post, and electricity lines connected to soldiers’ accommodation. The Commander’ s assurance and the completion of these projects underscore the Nigerian Army’ s commitment to addressing security challenges and fostering development in the region.
