SEXUAL Harassment Saga ESCALATES As Primate Ayodele Goes Spiritual, Issues Strong Warning To Akpabio
Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has cautioned Senate President Godswill Akpabio to handle the sexual harassment allegations against him with great caution. According to Ayodele, it was revealed to him that the allegations were orchestrated to tarnish Akpabio’ s reputation.
In a widely circulated video, Ayodele advised the Senate president to find a peaceful resolution to the matter while safeguarding his image both nationally and internationally. He warned that even if Akpabio managed to protect his reputation in Nigeria, he might struggle to do so on the global stage.
This prophecy surfaced amid allegations made by Senator Natasha Akpoti- Uduaghan against Akpabio. For the past two weeks, both figures have been in the spotlight following her claims of sexual harassment, which she initially shared on social media.
On Wednesday, March 13, Senator Natasha took her grievances to the Inter- Parliamentary Union (IPU), a United Nations- affiliated body, accusing the Senate of undemocratic practices. She argued that her suspension from the Senate was unjust and called on international democratic institutions to intervene in what she described as political persecution.
Addressing the IPU assembly, Senator Natasha expressed deep disappointment, stating that she had attended the session with a heavy heart. She apologised to her Nigerian colleagues, clarifying that her intention was not to disgrace her country but to seek justice for Nigerian women.
Explaining the circumstances surrounding her suspension, she said: ” My suspension came with severe conditions: my security was withdrawn, my official vehicles and other entitlements were taken away, my salary was cut off, and I was barred from appearing near the National Assembly. For six months, I am not allowed to present myself as a senator, either locally or internationally. ”
Senator Natasha insisted that she had merely submitted a petition on sexual harassment against Akpabio, hoping for a fair investigation. However, instead of receiving justice, she claimed she was silenced and punished by the Senate.
