See Shocking Story Of How Police Shot His Fellow Officer Because Of MONEY In Porthacourt- Video
A tragic incident occurred in the Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Police Force when a corporal shot his superior, an inspector, during a dispute over the distribution of a financial gift. The corporal later turned the gun on himself, leading to his death.
The incident happened at a generator- selling company in Trans Amadi Industrial Layout, Port Harcourt, where three police officers were on duty. A customer, in a gesture of appreciation, handed them some money. Following tradition, the senior officer, an inspector, took charge of dividing the cash among the three officers.
However, one of the corporals was displeased with his share, feeling it was unfair. He voiced his dissatisfaction and demanded a review of the allocation. The inspector, considering his actions insubordinate, refused to change the distribution. What started as a minor disagreement quickly escalated into a heated argument, drawing the attention of passersby.
From Argument To Tragedy
As emotions ran high, the corporal, in a fit of rage, took his AK- 47 rifle and shot the inspector in the leg. The unexpected gunshot sent people fleeing the scene. Realizing the gravity of his actions, the corporal made a shocking decision— he turned the gun on himself. Before anyone could intervene, he pulled the trigger, shooting himself in the chest.
Immediate Aftermath
Both officers were rushed to Teme Hospital, operated by Médecins Sans Frontières. Despite efforts by medical personnel, the corporal resisted treatment and eventually bled to death. Meanwhile, the inspector was reported to be responding to treatment.
Police Response And Investigation
Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ben Ugwuegbulem, confirmed the incident. He described the corporal as a Non- Commissioned Officer (NCO) and stated that there had been no prior disputes between the two officers.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) launched an investigation, and the AK- 47 rifle used in the shooting was recovered. The police, still in shock, withheld the corporal’ s identity while efforts to contact his family remained unsuccessful.
This tragic event highlights tensions within the police force and the dangers of emotional instability when firearms are involved. What began as a simple disagreement over a gift ended in an irreversible loss of life, serving as a stark reminder of the need for discipline and conflict resolution within security agencies.
