Akwa Okuko denied any involvement in illegal activities, pointing out that he had stopped practicing shortly after the government’ s announcement. ” It is not my page that posted the video, ” he explained during his interrogation. He further claimed that since hearing about the law prohibiting his practice, he had stopped all related activities. ” Since I heard about no ‘ Okeite, ‘ I just stopped it, ” he added.
However, Deputy Governor Ibezim was not convinced. He emphasized that the government would continue to investigate Akwa Okuko’ s past practices and demanded that he provide evidence of his claim that he had ceased his ritual work. ” We want to see the places where you do these things, and the evidence of what you are doing, ” Ibezim insisted, leaving little room for negotiation.
