Fr. Tobias Okonkwo, the Manager of the College of Nursing Sciences, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala. ” He reflected on the brutality of the crime, noting that Fr. Okonkwo was shot by unknown assailants in Ihiala. Obi emphasized the alarming frequency of violence against productive members of society, lamenting that such bloodshed is ” beyond heartbreaking. ”
Obi’ s statement also highlighted the wider implications of the violence affecting communities across the country, saying, ” In many parts of the nation, the blood of our brothers and sisters whose lives were cut short by insecurity continues to cry. ” He posed a poignant question about the future of the nation, asking, ” How many more lives will be wasted before we rise to action and put an end to this menace confronting our future as a nation? ” Drawing on his close association with the College of Nursing Sciences in Ihiala, he underscored the devastating impact this tragedy has on the college community.
