EXPOSED! Watch The Video Popular TikToker Made About Nigerian Police That Got Him Arrested
The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of popular TikTok content creator Seaking, who is accused of inciting violence against law enforcement officers in Nigeria. The social media influencer was taken into custody on Saturday after a series of controversial videos he posted online.
In the videos, Seaking reportedly criticized high- profile government officials, including President Bola Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo- Olu, and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun. However, it was his specific call for Nigerian youths to resort to violence against police officers that reportedly led to his arrest. In the video, Seaking allegedly encouraged citizens to retaliate against police officers if they felt mistreated or if the officers ” crossed their boundaries. ”
Following these statements, law enforcement officials moved swiftly to detain him. A video currently circulating on social media appears to show Seaking being interrogated by security personnel at an undisclosed location.
The incident has sparked widespread discussion on social media, drawing attention from both supporters and critics. Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong took to Twitter to raise concerns about Seaking’ s arrest and sought information regarding his whereabouts. Effiong posted, ” Anyone with useful information about his family or the police station he was taken to should kindly contact me. ”
In response, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin addressed Effiong’ s concerns and provided context for the arrest. Hundeyin questioned whether Seaking’ s actions should be considered a crime under the law, stating, ” Please enlighten us @InibeheEffiong. Is it a crime or not to incite members of the public to violence/anarchy? ”
The arrest has reignited conversations around freedom of speech, responsible social media use, and the boundaries of law enforcement in addressing online content deemed harmful or provocative. Videos and messages calling for violence against any individual or group remain a sensitive issue, especially when targeted at law enforcement agencies.
Seaking’ s arrest highlights the growing scrutiny on digital platforms and influencers who use their platforms to address contentious political or social issues. As investigations into the case continue, the public awaits further updates on potential legal proceedings or outcomes.
The situation serves as a stark reminder of the fine line between expressing dissent and promoting actions that could incite unrest. It also underscores the role of digital platforms in amplifying voices and the responsibilities that come with such influence.
