Tragedy struck in Lagos when Tolani Alabi, a 24- year- old woman, succumbed to injuries after being set ablaze by her boyfriend, Orji Ifeanyichukwu. The incident occurred after an alleged dispute over infidelity in their relationship.
According to reports, Tolani had promised to remain faithful to Ifeanyi when they began their relationship. However, her boyfriend accused her of betraying his trust after discovering love chats and nude pictures on her phone, which she allegedly sent to another man. This discovery reportedly led to a heated confrontation that culminated in the shocking act of violence.
The suspect, 19- year- old Orji Ifeanyichukwu Victor, was apprehended by the police following the incident. Confirming the arrest, Lagos State Police spokesperson Bala Elkana disclosed the details of the case, stating, ” On December 7, 2019, at about 11: 45 a. m. , operatives of Iba Police Station arrested one Orji Ifeanyichukwu Victor, male, aged 19, residing at G54 Army Post Service Housing Estate, Ojo, Lagos, for setting one Alabi Tolani Mariam, female, aged 24, ablaze. ”
Elkana revealed that Ifeanyi confessed to the crime during interrogation. ” The suspect admitted that he doused the victim with petrol before setting her on fire, ” Elkana said. ” He claimed that the act was fueled by anger after discovering her alleged unfaithfulness. ”
