“It is never an easy journey when you’re fighting evil. But some years ago, before I began this walk, God spoke to me very clearly. I heard Him say, ‘Once has it been spoken: the truth is the only weapon by which you can slay the monster called Nigeria.’
Human rights activist and lawyer, Dele Farotimi, has affirmed his unwavering commitment to truth following his release from prison in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Tuesday.
Farotimi, who expressed profound gratitude to supporters for standing by him during his legal ordeal, stated emphatically, “I have never lied against anyone.”
He commended the efforts and sacrifices of well-meaning Nigerians who advocated for his release.
The activist was abducted from Lagos State and transferred to Ekiti State in connection with allegations of cybercrime and defamation.
Farotimi had been incarcerated since December 4, 2024.
After months of legal hurdles, Farotimi perfected his bail conditions on Tuesday and promptly returned to Lagos.
He vowed to continue championing human rights and justice, reiterating his belief in the power of truth and public advocacy.
He said, “One thing I need all of you to know is this. I am not mindful of the sacrifices that you have made to be here today. May the grace of God find and locate you wherever you are.
