BREAKING: Obi Dumps Labour Party, Rejoins APC- See Details
Former House of Representatives member Paschal Obi, who represented Ideato North and South Federal Constituency, has rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC) after leaving the Labour Party (LP).
Obi was officially welcomed back into the APC by the expanded state party executives led by Macdonald Ebere. His return to the party followed the formalization of his membership at the ward and local government area (LGA) levels.
During his speech at the event, Obi explained that his decision to return to the APC was motivated by what he described as the massive infrastructural development initiated by Governor Hope Uzodinma. He expressed admiration for Uzodinma’ s administration, noting its impact on the growth and development of Imo State.
Obi also commended the state party leadership under Macdonald Ebere for its exemplary governance. He attributed the APC’ s strong grassroots performance in the last LGA elections to the effective leadership provided by the party executives.
The former lawmaker assured the party of his unwavering loyalty and pledged continuous support to strengthen the APC’ s presence in Ideato North and South.
In response, APC State Chairman Macdonald Ebere expressed gratitude to Obi for his decision to return to the party. Ebere emphasized that Obi’ s return was a testament to the APC’ s inclusive policies and commitment to delivering good governance.
The event was well- attended by political stakeholders from Ideato South, who accompanied Obi to reaffirm their support for his decision.
Daily Post reports that Obi has had a dynamic political journey. He started as a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) before joining the APC. He later switched to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and subsequently joined the Labour Party (LP). His return to the APC marks another turn in his political career.
Obi’ s decision to rejoin the APC is expected to bolster the party’ s influence in Imo State, particularly in the Ideato North and South Federal Constituency. It also underscores the significant role of Uzodinma’ s administration in attracting former members back to the APC fold.
As the political landscape in Imo continues to evolve, Obi’ s return to the APC signals a potential shift in the state’ s political dynamics, with the party further solidifying its grassroots support.
