In another report, veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie sounded the alarm over the growing trend of fake death rumors circulating about Nigerian celebrities on social media.
In a scathing Instagram post, Edochie condemned the unscrupulous tactics employed by bloggers and social media content creators to drive traffic, engagement, and financial gains.
Edochie’ s outrage was sparked by a recent incident involving her colleague, Osita Iheme, popularly known as Pawpaw. Photos of Iheme were circulated on social media with false claims of his death, prompting an outpouring of condolences and RIP messages from netizens.
Edochie described this trend as a ” dangerous and heartbreaking media practice” that must be stopped.
The actress drew from her personal experience, recalling similar fabrications involving her and Pete Edochie. She cited an instance where her character’ s death in the movie ” Calabash” was misconstrued as a real- life tragedy.
Another false claim suggested that Sir Pete had died while abroad. Edochie condemned these actions as harmful and disrespectful, urging people to stop defaming others and spreading baseless rumors.
