See Shocking Thing Ekpa’s DISCIPLES Allegedly Did To Anambra Board Chairman And Family
In Anambra State, a group of armed assailants claiming to be disciples of Simon Ekpa, a self- acclaimed leader of a faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), carried out a violent attack on the chairman of the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety) and his family members. The attack, which occurred on Thursday, left residents in shock and deepened concerns over the rising wave of insecurity in the region.
The incident reportedly took place in a rural area in Anambra, where the Intersociety chairman and his family were traveling. Eyewitnesses revealed that the gunmen, who were heavily armed, ambushed the chairman’ s vehicle and forcefully stopped them. During the confrontation, the assailants allegedly identified themselves as followers of Simon Ekpa, who has often been linked to separatist activities in the Southeast.
The attackers, acting with aggression and disregard for public safety, assaulted the chairman and some family members before snatching the Hilux vehicle they were traveling in. Reports suggest that while no lives were lost in the attack, the victims were left traumatized. The armed group allegedly issued threats to the chairman and accused him of being unsupportive of their ideological pursuits, which they claim to be fighting for.

In response to the attack, local authorities and security agencies have been urged to intensify efforts to curb criminal activities attributed to armed groups across the Southeast. The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region, where groups claiming allegiance to IPOB factions have, in recent months, been accused of violent activities including kidnappings, attacks on residents, and property destruction.
Simon Ekpa, a Finland- based self- styled leader, has been at the center of controversies regarding the activities of separatist groups in the Southeast. Ekpa is known for his fiery rhetoric and calls for civil disobedience, particularly through sit- at- home orders that have disrupted businesses, education, and day- to- day life in the region. However, this recent attack raises further questions about the escalation of violence under the guise of separatist campaigns.
Civil society organizations, including Intersociety, have condemned the incident. The group emphasized that such acts of violence undermine the struggle for justice and development in the Southeast. They also called on Simon Ekpa and his purported followers to desist from actions that harm innocent citizens.
The attack serves as a grim reminder of the urgent need for dialogue, stability, and decisive action by authorities to address the worsening security crisis in Nigeria’ s Southeast. Residents remain apprehensive, calling on both federal and state governments to prioritize security reforms and protect citizens from violent groups exploiting ideological claims for criminal purposes.
