Arewa FORUM Speaks Out, Exposes Northerners Alleged Secret Plot Against Tinubu In 2027 Presidential Election; SEE Details
The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), a socio- cultural organization representing the northern region of Nigeria, has expressed deep dissatisfaction with President Bola Tinubu’ s leadership since his election in 2023. The group has openly stated that the people of the northern region regret voting for Tinubu and may actively oppose his reelection bid in 2027 if the current situation in the country does not improve.
Alhaji Shettima Yerima, the President of the AYCF, voiced the frustrations of the northern populace, highlighting their discontent with the Tinubu- led administration’ s performance thus far. According to Yerima, expectations were high for Tinubu to address pressing issues such as insecurity and economic hardship. However, the government’ s apparent inability to meet these expectations has left many in the north disappointed. He warned that unless tangible improvements are made, the region could turn its back on Tinubu in the next election cycle.
Yerima also directed criticism at certain state governors in the northern region, accusing them of lacking creativity and initiative in revenue generation. He expressed disappointment that many governors continue to rely heavily on federal allocations, using the funds for personal gain and rewarding cronies instead of investing in the development of their states.
The northern region’ s disillusionment with Tinubu is compounded by lingering dissatisfaction from the previous administration of Muhammadu Buhari, who also hails from the north. Yerima pointed out that the eight years of Buhari’ s leadership brought little progress to the region, leaving many voters hopeful that Tinubu, with his democratic ideals and reputation, would address the country’ s challenges differently. As someone who had worked closely with Tinubu in the past and considered him a role model, Yerima admitted that he, too, had high hopes for Tinubu’ s presidency. He expected Tinubu to tackle Nigeria’ s problems with practical solutions, rather than resorting to authoritarian methods.
However, the current administration’ s policies and their implementation have not lived up to these expectations. Yerima acknowledged that Tinubu inherited a difficult situation, noting that anyone succeeding Buhari would face significant challenges.
Nonetheless, he emphasized that while reforms may take time to yield results, the government should have taken measures to alleviate the immediate suffering of the people. He explained that without proper cushioning mechanisms, citizens are left to endure undue hardship, which fuels anger and discontent.
” The northern people are deeply dissatisfied with the government, ” Yerima stated. He went on to explain that although the north remains angry, there is still time for Tinubu to rectify the situation and regain the region’ s trust. Yerima urged patience and encouraged giving the government the benefit of the doubt, acknowledging that the path to recovery is complex and requires time. However, he cautioned that if the government fails to deliver meaningful improvements within the next two years, the north will not hesitate to explore alternatives.
Yerima stressed that the north would not blindly support a candidate in the next election. Instead, stakeholders would convene to evaluate the situation and make decisions that best serve the region’ s interests. While it is still too early to declare Tinubu’ s administration a failure, Yerima made it clear that the north would hold the government accountable and would not hesitate to withdraw its support if the region continues to feel neglected.
In conclusion, the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum has delivered a strong message to President Tinubu: the northern region’ s support is not unconditional. The administration must address the pressing issues of insecurity and economic hardship while ensuring that policies are implemented in a way that does not exacerbate the suffering of the people. Without meaningful change, the north is prepared to align itself with leadership that can provide better governance and development for the region.
