BUSTED! Soldiers Demolish Building Where Militants Were Training Like Army [SEE Their Plans]
In a decisive move to restore peace and security, a joint security team in Akwa Ibom State has demolished a building used as the operational headquarters of the militant group, Ibom Youth Council. The structure, located in Ikot Isighe, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, was destroyed following credible intelligence reports about the group’ s activities.
The spokesperson for the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police Timfon John, disclosed this development in a statement issued on Thursday. According to Ms John, security operatives stormed the location after verifying intelligence that linked the group to a plot to disrupt law and order in the state.
” Members of the group fled in different directions, ” Ms John stated. ” The operation led to the arrest of three suspects, and their headquarters was demolished. ”
She explained that evidence uncovered during the operation indicated that the Ibom Youth Council was amassing arms and conducting military- style training. The group had allegedly begun attacking security formations and encroaching on private properties. Their objective, Ms John revealed, was to launch widespread unrest in the closing days of 2024 and sustain it into the New Year.
Ms John reiterated the commitment of the police to maintain Akwa Ibom’ s reputation as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria. She urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
” Landlords are warned to be cautious before leasing their properties to individuals or organisations. Any property used in the commission of crimes, especially acts of subversion against the state, will be demolished, and the owners will be treated as accomplices, ” she warned.
The incident follows the recent proscription of the Ibom Youth Council by Governor Umo Eno. While presenting the 2025 budget proposal to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in November, the governor declared the group illegal and instructed security agencies to enforce the proscription order.

Until its proscription, the group was relatively unknown in the state. However, the state government and security agencies have since identified it as a potential threat to public peace.
In her statement, Ms John assured citizens and residents of Akwa Ibom that security personnel were working round the clock to ensure the safety of lives and property during the festive season and beyond.
” The citizens and residents of Akwa Ibom State are assured of their safety this yuletide season and beyond, ” she said.
