JUST- IN: 7 DAYS After Biafra Declaration, Biafran Army Bans Nnamdi Kanu’s Wife From Entering Igboland
The Biafra Liberation Army (BLA), a splinter group advocating for the independence of Biafra, has announced a ban on Uchechi Kanu, wife of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), from entering the South- East region of Nigeria. This declaration was made in a statement by the BLA commander, identified as ROZ, on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The statement, cited by LATEST_NEWS Blog, reads: ” Uchechi Kanu is hereby banned from entering Biafra land till further notice. Anywhere she’ s seen in Biafra, only God knows. It’ s time I start sanitising our country organically, from the grassroots. We have respected MNK [Nnamdi Kanu] enough. All of us are paying the price of freedom. No one owns Biafra. ”
The announcement follows a recent online dispute involving Uchechi Kanu, who openly criticised IPOB’ s political wing (IPOB- PW), describing it as a fraudulent and faceless organisation. She stated that the group does not represent her husband or the larger IPOB movement.
Uchechi Kanu’ s remarks were sparked by claims from IPOB- PW that it had received authorisation from Nnamdi Kanu to initiate negotiations with the Nigerian government regarding the future of the South- East region. The group’ s spokesman, Emereonye Nwachukwu, alleged that Kanu had communicated his approval through intermediaries during his detention.
In response, Uchechi posted on X, dismissing IPOB- PW as a baseless organisation. She wrote: ” Who are these faceless fools? What is and who are the people behind this sham called IPOB- PW? Be aware that IPOB- PW is a hoax and does not speak for #NnamdiKanu or #IPOB. ”
She emphasised that IPOB operates as a single unified entity globally and accused those behind IPOB- PW of deception.
The IPOB political wing gained attention after Bianca Ojukwu, Nigeria’ s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, hinted at progress in securing Nnamdi Kanu’ s release. This prompted IPOB- PW to assert its role in discussions about the South- East’ s future. However, these claims have intensified tensions within the pro- Biafra movement, revealing divisions among its factions.

The BLA’ s recent ban on Uchechi Kanu highlights the growing discord within the struggle for Biafra independence. While the movement remains united in its quest for self- determination, internal conflicts like this risk undermining its cohesion.
Nnamdi Kanu has been detained by Nigerian authorities since 2021 on charges including treason and terrorism. Efforts to secure his release have faced numerous legal and political hurdles.
