Government Refuses To Pay Election Staff After Election

Ad hoc staff who worked with the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) at the recently held Ogun State local government elections have lamented the non-payment of their allowances.
The ad hoc staff noted that despite working for the independent electoral commission in Ogun State, about three weeks after, they are yet to be paid.
According to them, this is despite the electoral commission in Ogun State having all their relevant details and despite many promises to ensure that their monies are paid.
The unpaid staff have also created a group to advocate for payment, in the group are over 69 persons who worked during the last election.
The local government elections in Ogun state were held on November 16th across the local government areas in the state.
The electorates voted for twenty chairmen and two hundred and thirty-six councillors.
The All Progressives Congress was disputably declared winner of all the chairmanship seats and councillorship seats.
This is not the first time the independent electoral commission will be accused of wrong treatment of its ad-hoc staff in Ogun state.
In 2019, corps members who worked as adhoc staff lamented their maltreatment following stated refusals to pay food allowance and transport allowance.
