WAHALA! After Clip Exposes Men In Police Uniform Scooping Petrol From Tanker; See What Police Public Relation Said About The Incident
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has categorically denied any involvement of its personnel in a viral video showing uniformed men scooping fuel from a tanker accident. According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the individuals in the footage are not Nigerian police officers but uniformed personnel from a neighboring francophone country.
In a statement released on Monday, ACP Adejobi explained, ” The individuals in the video are not officers of the Nigeria Police Force. They are uniformed personnel from a neighboring francophone country whose camouflage uniforms bear a resemblance to those of the Nigeria Police Force. ”
Further distinguishing the individuals in question, the police noted that the language spoken in the video was French, not any Nigerian language or English, which reinforces the claim that the personnel are not from Nigeria.
The Nigeria Police Force condemned the circulation of the video, stating it was part of a deliberate effort to discredit the institution. ” We strongly condemn the spread of such disinformation and unverified news aimed at tarnishing or discrediting the image of the Nigeria Police Force, ” the statement read.
The police emphasized the harmful impact of such misinformation on the integrity of the force and its commitment to public safety. ” Such actions not only undermine the integrity of the force but also have far- reaching negative consequences for the nation and its people, ” it said.
The clarification comes amidst growing concerns about the impact of misinformation on public trust in key institutions. The NPF’ s swift response to the viral video underscores its commitment to transparency and accountability, as well as its resolve to protect its image and the confidence of the public it serves.
This development serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible information sharing in maintaining societal harmony and supporting the efforts of security agencies dedicated to safeguarding the nation.
