If successful, Adeyokunnu would become the second RCCG pastor from the United States to be crowned a traditional ruler in Nigeria.
Last year, Ọba Ghandi Olaoye, a former pastor at RCCG Jesus House in Washington, was appointed as the Soun of Ogbomoso in Oyo State. His coronation as the 28th Soun was approved by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo.
Adeyokunnu’ s interest in the Ijesa throne has been discussed with major figures in the RCCG, including his in- law Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who attended Adeyokunnu’ s 70th birthday celebration in the United States, according to source.

Pastor Adeboye spoke fondly of Adeyokunnu at the birthday celebration, highlighting their decades- long relationship.
” I have known him before I got married to his sister and that is for about 60 years now, ” Adeboye said.
” He is the first friend I would have in the Adeyokunnu family besides my wife. He was not a large man like this. He resembled Bayo as a child. But we bonded quickly. He was also born again through my ministry. I recall preaching a sermon titled ‘ Come and Drink’ that day, and he is still sipping now. ”

Toward the end of his remarks, Adeboye hinted at Adeyokunnu’ s prospective reign, saying, ” For your information, you do not speak English in front of a monarch in our land since I am also from Ijesaland. So I will not pray in English for him because he is a prince and he may be the next king. ”
According to close acquaintances mentioned by the platform, Adeyokunnu, 70, is ready to retire from active ministry in the RCCG and sees kingship as a way to continue serving his community.
He is a member of the Bilaro reigning house of Ijesaland, with a royal pedigree dating back to his great- great- grandfather, Kabiyesi Ofokutu I.
