BLOODBATH: Bandits Reportedly Slit Throats Of 9 Vigilantes In Front Of Their Wives In Sokoto
At least 10 people have been confirmed dead following a brutal attack by bandits in Dantudu Lajinge village, located in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, in Nigeria’ s northwest. The incident, which took place on Monday, has left the community in shock and mourning.
According to sources familiar with the attack, the bandits stormed the village in the early hours and targeted members of the local vigilante group. Nine of the victims, all members of the vigilante, were reportedly slaughtered by the assailants.
One witness, Bello Dan- Tudu, a resident of the village, told SaharaReporters, ” They targeted members of our vigilante group and slaughtered nine of them like ordinary rams. ” The attackers are said to have slit the victims’ throats, leaving their bodies in a pool of blood.
In addition to the killings, the wives of the slain vigilantes were abducted, with reports indicating that they were taken away by the assailants as their husbands lay lifeless. The attackers are believed to have fled the scene shortly after the raid, leaving the community in deep despair.
While the exact circumstances of the deaths remain unclear, conflicting reports have emerged. Some residents claim the victims were slaughtered, while others suggest the deaths were caused by gunshots. A villager who wished to remain anonymous stated that all 10 victims were shot in the neck at close range, but one person survived the ordeal and is currently receiving medical treatment in a nearby hospital.
The Chairman of Sabon Birni Local Government Council, Ayuba Hamisu, confirmed the attack, expressing his grief over the loss of lives in his community. ” It happened while I was attending a function in Abuja. They killed nine of our people, ” Hamisu said. ” I’ ve just suspended further engagements here and am heading back home right away to be with my people. ”
As of the time of writing, the Sokoto State Police Command’ s spokesperson, Rufai Ahmad, has not responded to repeated attempts to contact him for confirmation of the attack.
