Peter Obi Grieving Over Simon Ekpa’s Arrest? See What Reno Omokri Said Five Days After Agitator’s Arrest
Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex- President Goodluck Jonathan, has criticised Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, for his silence regarding the recent economic developments in Nigeria.
Omokri insinuated that Obi’ s quietness might be linked to the arrest of Simon Ekpa, the self- proclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), by Finnish authorities over alleged terrorism charges.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), as cited by LATEST_NEWS Blog, Omokri highlighted several positive indicators in Nigeria’ s economy. He wrote: ” GDP growth rate increases to 3. 46%. Unemployment reduces to 4. 3%. JBS announces it will invest $2. 5 billion in Nigeria.
” Non- oil revenue hits a record of ₦10. 33 trillion for the first eight months of 2024, and net foreign exchange inflow onto Nigeria’ s economy rose by 67. 8% to $27. 6 billion in the first half of 2024 from $16. 44 billion in 2023.
” But Peter Obi is silent. Perhaps he is grieving the arrest of Simon Ekpa by the Finnish government! ”
Omokri’ s comments have sparked a flurry of reactions on social media, with users expressing diverse views on the matter.
Many users took to X to either support Omokri’ s stance or challenge his assertions. @Interflex supported Omokri, saying: ” Oh yeah, PETER OBI is seriously in a grieving mood because of the arrest of SIMON EKPA. About the positive news on the Nigerian economy, that’ s a very sad news to PETER OBI and all the HATERS of PBAT & NIGERIA. God will continue to humiliate them. ”
Similarly, @Palermo_seun wrote: ” President Tinubu is putting the country on the right track. Prices of goods and services will start to drop soon. This administration might put Alhaji and Mr. Obi on permanent retirement from politics by 2027 because Nigerians would insist on continuity. ”
However, others disagreed, arguing that the reported statistics fail to reflect the reality of life for ordinary Nigerians.
