Governor orders arrest of six staff
Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has directed the arrest and prosecution of Mr. Ndukwe Ayansi and five others for allegedly diverting materials intended for the State Ministry of Health.
During a project inspection, the Governor noticed a Toyota Dyana truck loading registers, books, and other materials from the ministry’s warehouse. Unsatisfied with the initial explanations, he conducted further inquiries and uncovered that patient data registers, cards, and other documents were being loaded onto the vehicle without authorization.
It was further revealed that the documents had already been sold without government approval.
Addressing the situation at the scene, Governor Nwifuru condemned the act as sabotage against the government’s efforts to improve the health sector.
“You are selling government documents without approval on a Saturday afternoon,” the Governor remarked.
“Our rural hospitals are requesting registers, data entry forms, and hospital cards. Unfortunately, the materials produced by the government are being sold illegally. This is pure sabotage of our efforts in the health sector and will not be tolerated.”
The suspects have been handed over to the police for further investigation.
