A Muslim philanthropist, Alhaji Sulaiman Ishola, has donated a hall to a Catholic church in Abeokuta, Ogun State, citing the inclusivity and non- discriminatory nature of the Catholic community, as reported by Guardian Nigeria.
The donation was made during a ceremony conducted on Sunday, November 17, when Ishola handed over the freshly built multipurpose hall to St. Michael’ s Catholic Church in Itesi, Abeokuta.
He added that his decision was motivated by the togetherness and harmony he witnessed growing up in a Catholic school.
” Catholics do not discriminate. I went to a Catholic school and saw firsthand their dedication to fostering unity and love among people from various backgrounds, ” Ishola said.
The philanthropist explained that the act was his way of fostering interfaith cooperation and giving back to the community that helped develop his ideals.
He urged Nigerians to embrace religious tolerance and solidarity, which he described as necessary for peace and progress.
Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ogunbanjo, the parish priest of St. Michael’ s, expressed gratitude to Ishola for the remarkable act of generosity.

Community leaders and citizens also welcomed the gesture, characterizing it as a beacon of hope and an example of interfaith cooperation.
The donated hall, which will be used for community events and religious activities, is expected to improve the church’ s ability to engage with the community and serve as a focal point for unity and collaboration.
