NSCDC Officer Dies After Receiving His Salary; See Where His Body Was Found
Tragedy struck the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) as one of its officers was found dead in Osun State. There have been different reports surrounding his death, it was made known that the officer died after receiving his salary and that was what reportedly led to his death because he was shocked with the amount he received. An NSCDC officer identified as Muhammed Opatola has been announced dead. He died at his office in the Iwo Division of the Osun State Command on Tuesday. The lifeless body of the officer was found inside the toilet of his office. However, his colleagues made efforts to revive him by rushing him to a hospital.
A source revealed that the officer died after receiving his monthly salary for October. When he received the alert, he checked and found out that he was short- paid. The source claimed that the salary reduction led to his death. The report is unconfirmed that security operatives were not given the chance to investigate as his family buried him at the Muslim Cemetery in Owoeba Area, Oshogbo the day he died.
Meanwhile, a colleague of the deceased officer refuted the claim, adding that the officer did not die immediately after he received his salary, in fact, he carried out his duties before he felt sick and died. The Osun State NSCDC National spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, confirmed the officer’s demise in a telephone conversation with newsmen on Tuesday. Afolabi was a close friend to the deceased, he said the deceased was found dead inside the toilet. He disputed the claims that the officer died because of the salary he received, adding that this is not the first time the deceased would be collecting salary. He said it was a case of heart attack.
