HORROR! See What Gunmen Did To Women In Public While Trying To Rape Them
In a devastating attack, scores of bandits stormed the Wayam community in the Sabon- Gari District of Rafi Local Government Area, Niger State, on Tuesday, killing at least 10 residents, including women and children, and setting homes and barns ablaze. The early- morning assault came as locals were preparing to head to their farms. Eyewitness accounts reveal that over 50 bandits arrived on motorcycles, firing sporadically to terrify residents. Some of the assailants reportedly attempted to rape women, and when their attempts were resisted, they gruesomely killed several women. Many other villagers died from gunshot wounds sustained during the attack.
According to a community member, who requested anonymity for security reasons, the bandits spent hours terrorizing the village without any interference from security forces. The attackers then retreated across state borders to the Birnin Gwari axis in Kaduna, an area that has reportedly provided them a safe haven for years.
The assault left Wayam deserted, as residents fled in fear for their lives. “We are terrified, and many have left. All the deceased have been buried, and there was no security presence during or after the attack, “the source reported.
Six months prior, the neighboring Madaka community had suffered a similar attack that resulted in the deaths of over 60 residents, underlining the ongoing insecurity plaguing these border regions.
Niger State Police Command spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun, when contacted by Newsmen, confirmed he would investigate the incident. However, no follow- up information had been received by the time of this report.
This tragic event highlights the urgent need for enhanced security measures and government intervention to protect vulnerable rural communities in Niger and neighboring states.
