Retired Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and former Nigerian Ambassador to the Benin Republic, has expressed deep sorrow over the recent passing of Lt. – Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff.

Buratai’ s message, shared in Abuja on Thursday, highlighted the loss felt across the Nigerian Army and the nation.
He extended his sympathies to President Bola Tinubu, Lagbaja’ s wife, Mrs. Mariya Lagbaja, the Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lt. – Gen. In 2020, after his promotion to Major General, Lagbaja was further entrusted with the role of Director, Campaign Plan, at Army Headquarters, a testament to his strategic and operational expertise.
Buratai emphasized that the nation has lost a ” strategic commander. ” He praised Lagbaja’ s leadership and vision, which played an essential role in strengthening the Nigerian Army and shaping it into a strong, respected institution. ” Gen.
