Heavily armed individuals have allegedly murdered a Police Inspector, an expatriate employee, and three other staff members of a quarry company in Edo State, specifically located at Ihievbe- Ogben in the Owan East Local Government Area LGA.

Information gathered by the press reveals that a Police Sergeant incurred a leg injury during the attack, and a female employee of the company has been unaccounted for since the incident, prompting concerns regarding a potential kidnapping.
Prior to the attack, the Police Inspector (whose identity remains unknown) and the Sergeant were serving as orderlies to the expatriate staff member of the company.
The Edo State Police Command has verified the attack and stated that three individuals were fatally injured, contrary to earlier reports.
During a press briefing in Benin City, Yamu Moses, the Public Relations Officer for the Police Command, disclosed that the deceased victims comprised a Police Inspector and two others.
Yamu Moses reported that an investigation into the incident is currently underway, and efforts are being made in collaboration with the military to capture the suspects. However, anonymous local sources revealed to newsmen that the police officer succumbed to his injuries and died immediately at the scene.
Locals also revealed that the expatriate succumbed to injuries and passed away in the hospital, while the injured Sergeant is receiving medical attention in a hospital whose location has not been disclosed. Furthermore, they mentioned that the female staff member, an accountant with the company, remains unaccounted for, leading to suspicions that she may have been taken by the gunmen.
Tragically, it was alleged that the gunmen set up an ambush for the expatriate on his way back to his base after work on the day of the incident, lying in wait for him to attack.
Journalists noted that the Ihievbe- Ogben community, which borders Owan East and Akoko- Edo local government areas, has a history of kidnapping activities and is considered a hotbed of criminal activity.
In the past, there have been incidents where Police Officers have been fatally attacked at a police post and checkpoint in the Ihievbe- Ogben community, and several individuals have also been abducted in the area.
