“We Can’t Do It Alone” Nigerian Army CRIES For Help, Sends STRONG Message To Nigerians
The Nigerian Army has called on Nigerians to help the troops in their efforts to combat the ongoing insurgency and insecurity across the country.
Nigeria’ s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, made this appeal in a recent video message.
He highlighted the various challenges the nation faces from terrorists and stressing the need for a united front to tackle these issues.
In the message, Musa noted that insurgent groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP continue to be active in the north- east, while banditry wreaks havoc in the north- west.
Additionally, pipeline vandalism and sea piracy plague the south- south region, while secessionist movements such as IPOB push their agenda in the south- east.
These diverse threats, according to the general, require more than just military intervention.
” Currently, Nigeria, as part of the international community, is dealing with asymmetric warfare, with non- state actors operating in different parts of the country, ” Musa said.
” In the north- east, for 15 years, we’ ve faced issues with Boko Haram and ISWAP; in the north- west, banditry; the south- south has pipeline vandalism and sea piracy; and in the south- east, IPOB is pushing for secession. ”
Musa reiterated that the Nigerian Armed Forces are committed to restoring peace and ensuring the country returns to normalcy.
The general stressed the importance of peace for the overall growth of the nation, saying, ” We are a professional force, and we continue to enhance and intensify training, which is crucial for our troops. ”
However, despite the military’ s efforts, Musa acknowledged that the task of restoring peace and security could not be achieved by the army alone.
” All we ask from Nigerians is continued belief in the country and support for the government, the armed forces, and other security agencies, ” he said.
According to him, the military requires the backing of citizens to succeed in its mission.
” We cannot do it alone. We need everyone on board. It’ s a whole- of- society approach against these terrorists, bandits, and criminals, ” he stated.
