A tragic incident recently occurred involving Boluwatife Oladipo, a 12- year- old student from St. Louis Girls’ Grammar School in Akure, Ondo State. The Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS 3) student collapsed and subsequently passed away after reportedly foretelling her own death. According to the Ondo State- owned newspaper, the young girl fainted last Tuesday, just moments after expressing a desire to die.
Eyewitnesses recount that Boluwatife had been interacting with her classmates and suddenly began making peculiar statements. She told her friends she felt an impending sense of death. It was further reported that she had previously urged her mother to have more children, but her request went unfulfilled.
Not long after these remarks, Boluwatife reportedly collapsed. Initially, she was taken to the school clinic, where she received first aid. However, due to the severity of her condition, she was transferred to the University Medical Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH) in Akure. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
One of the school teachers who witnessed the incident shared insights with the publication, indicating that Boluwatife’ s actions suggested she had a premonition of her demise. The teacher recounted that classes were underway when they were informed of the student’ s collapse. Boluwatife had been outside playing with her friends when the bell for the next class, Mathematics, rang.
The students hurried back to the classroom, but shortly after taking her seat, Boluwatife laid her head on her desk. Concerned, her classmates tried to rouse her, reminding her that the teacher was present. She then reportedly raised her head and reiterated her earlier statement, telling her friends that she wanted to die.
Teachers from the school later visited Boluwatife’ s family, where her mother revealed poignant details about her daughter’ s life. Boluwatife was the couple’ s first child, born after years of waiting. Her mother mentioned that the morning of the incident, Boluwatife had told her father she would be studying abroad for her Senior Secondary School education. She then hugged him and bid her mother farewell. Furthermore, her mother disclosed seeing a ghostly figure in their home early that morning, prompting both parents to pray.
This incident has deeply affected the school community and has left lingering questions about the circumstances leading up to Boluwatife’ s untimely death.
